Cost of iPad Production in the US $1140
Sometimes this is something to be said for overseas manufacturing. The reality breaks down to a Catch 22 situation: Production costs are too high in the US to sustain sales so the US loses manufacturing jobs. If everything is made overseas, the product can be sold at a much lower price, creating sales, distribution and marketing jobs here. Food for thought.

Sen. Rockefeller to Introduce Online Do-Not-Track Bill
The continuing assault on the privacy of US citizens is finally drawing the attention of a ranking member of congress. Senator Jay Rockefeller is readying a bill to require websites to halt tracking internet users who choose to opt out of tracking. The Senate bill will follow a bill introduced in the House in February.
NetChoice, a trade group representing e-commerce groups, opposes the Speier bill, saying it would hurt Web businesses. Online tracking helps deliver targeted advertising that pays for free Web content and services, said NetChoice executive director Steve DelBianco.
